At the Top Gear Track

As I’m sure you can appreciate, an opportunity to spend a day at the Top Gear track is not one to be missed.

So, I didn’t.

The track, located at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, was built during World War Two, and after the war, it remained a reasonably quiet place with a few planes landing here and there every now and then.

But then, BBC’s Top Gear moved in, changing everything. Dunsfold was no longer a place to listen to birds; it was a place to see very expensive supercars going round corners way too quickly.

Because of this, Dunsfold is somewhere many petrol-heads regard very highly on their ‘must see’ list.

So, in May, when I took a trip down there to see what’s what, the excitement was overwhelming.

At the track, there were nearly two thousand cars; some were normal trips-to-the-shops cars, but many weren’t.

Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Tesla, Ford – everything was there.

And a trip round the track? Well, that was thrown in for good measure.
