Although the basic formula remains the same, the new car has a more muscular look, similar to that of the Ford Focus RS. It features a new front grille with what looks like a front splitter, a new front bumper that includes daytime LED running lights, a revamped tail design with new rear lenses, and on the inside a new centre console, ambient lighting, new seats, a central overhead centre console and new door handles.
Ford says that new materials will enhance the “premium” feel of the Mondeo.
Ford have also said that a new range of engines will be available including a 197bhp 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel and a new 236bhp EcoBoost turbocharged petrol.
Another new piece of technology fitted to the car that has never been seen before on a Ford is an Active Grille Shutter system (an electronic device which regulates airflow through the radiator and engine compartment to reduce aerodynamic drag).
